About Mäda Klimt’s Primavesi did you know that?
Mäda Primavesi was the daughter of the industrialist and his wife, Eugenia, a wealthy family who supported the art of progressive Viennese design.
The painting expresses the Primavesis’ sophisticated taste for progressive art.
Mäda described Klimt as an extremely kind and tolerant of her adolescent impatience as an adult.
At the girl’s request to write a sentence in his autograph book, Klimt wrote “Day is like night if I don’t see you. I am happier if I dream of you.”
After this painting, Klimt also painted a portrait of the girl’s mother, Eugenia.
Mäda said in an interview with The New York Times that she estimates the artist made around 200 sketches of her.
