Did you know about Claude Monet?…
He’s called the father of French Impressionism.
He had a real passion for water lilies, producing no less than 250 paintings with this theme.
He was a soldier in Algeria. His father offered to pay for his release from the army in exchange for his promise to give up painting. The artist refused the offer, but was supported by his aunt, with whose help he left the army and enrolled at an art school in Paris.
He tried to commit suicide by throwing himself into the Seine. He resorted to this radical act in his 20s in a moment of frustration, having been rejected as an artist by the French Academy of Art and feeling unable to support his family.
His family disagreed with his relationship with Camille Doncieux, who was his model and then his wife. Camille died at 32, most likely of uterine candra.
His second wife, Alice Hoschedé, was extremely jealous of Camille and is said to have destroyed all her letters and photographs.
