Cabarets were born in Paris. The most famous of the 1900s venues were Le Chat Noir and Moulin Rouge. At the time, there were more than 150 such venues in the City of Lights.
These clubs usually brought together artists with innovative visions Zurich’s Cabaret Voltaire, for example, was the birthplace of the Dada art movement, a platform for radical experiments in poetry, visual art and music.
